'Youth unity against corruption can build clean future nation'
At an awards ceremony, speakers called for a stronger unity among the youth against corruption, so that they are inspired to become patriotic citizens with human values to build a corruption-free, clean future nation. They also emphasized on including separate chapters in the curriculum and organizing debates and other extracurricular competitions to inspire young students to prevent corruption and develop their anti-corruption mindset.
This opinion was expressed at the prize distribution ceremony among the winners of the debate, essay and painting competitions at the Rangpur Government Teachers Training College (RGTTC) auditorium in the city on Wednesday afternoon. The District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) organised the year-long competitions in three categories for the primary and secondary level students with the assistance of Rangpur District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
The male and female students of the city's ten reputed educational institutions, including Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College, Zilla School, Rangpur Police Lines School and College, Shishu Niketan High School, Rangpur Government Girls High School, Rangpur Collectorate School and College, Lions School and College, RCCI School and College, Samaj Kalyan Bidya Bithi Girls' School & College and Salema Girls High School participated in the competitions. Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan attended the programme and distributed prizes as the chief guest. Director at the Rangpur Divisional Office of ACC Mohammad Nurul Huda presided over the function.
Principal of RGTTC Professor Md Abu Bakar Siddique Sarker, Deputy Director of ACC's Rangpur District Combined Office Md Shaon Mia, Rangpur Regional Deputy Director of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Most Roksana Begum, District Education Officer Md Enayet Hossain and President of Rangpur District CPC Dr Nasima Akhter addressed the vent as special guests. The speakers emphasized on educating students of various educational institutions about the value of honesty to develop an anti-corruption mindset and inspiring them to become patriotic citizens with good human qualities by nurturing a culture of honesty.
The chief guest called upon the teachers to educate their students about the values of honesty from childhood to inspire them in building a corruption- free society and a developed Bangladesh for every citizen. "Corruption cannot be prevented through lawmaking alone," he advised, suggesting an effective social movement involving every citizen to eradicate corruption from every level of society. He assured the District Anti-Corruption Committee on behalf of the district administration of all possible assistance in organizing the next similar competitions, so that more and more educational institutions across the district participate.
