Organized by Bangladesh Adarsha Shikkakh Federation, a teachers’ conference was held at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park in the town on Saturday to ensure the elimination of discrimination in the teacher community through the nationalization of private educational institutions. At the conference, the leaders of the Federation raised 14-point demands and urged the interim government to accept them.

The conference, chaired by Bangladesh Adarsha Shikkakh Federation District Branch President Vice-Principal Abdus Sabur, and moderated by Senior Vice-President Principal Ashfaqur Rahman Bipur, was addressed as the chief guests by Bangladesh Islamic University former vice-chancellor and Bangladesh Adarsha Shikkakh Federation Central President Professor Dr Qorban Ali and Tamirul Millat Madrasa Acting Principal and prominent scholar Dr Khalilur Rahman Madani.

The conference was addressed as the special guests by Bangladesh Adarsha Shikkakh Federation Central Assistant Secretary General Professor Md Rabiul Islam, Bangladesh Madrasa Shikkhak Parishad Central President Principal Dr Mawlana Shahjahan Madani, Bangladesh Kindergarten Shikkhak Parishad Central President Principal Md Sirajul Islam, and Bangladesh Secondary Teachers’ Council Central Secretary Md Abdur Rahim Sarkar. Besides, Bangladesh Adarsha Shikkakh Federation Adviser and Satkhira Alia Kamil Madrasa President Muhaddis Abdul Khalek, Agardari Aminia Kamil Madrasa Acting Principal Muhaddis Rabiul Bashar, Satkhira City College former vice-principal Shahidul Islam Mukul, Shyamnagar Constituency former MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, and eminent educationist Mawlana Azizur Rahman. About 5,000 teachers were present at the conference.

The speakers at the conference said, “The benefits of the student revolution of July-August 2024 should be reached to all people regardless of race, religion, caste. Building an inclusive and humane Bangladesh free from exploitation and discrimination on the basis of equality, human dignity and social justice is the demand of the present time. In view of this situation, education should be reformed to create honest, skilled, patriotic, creative and competent citizens who believe in tolerant coexistence and who are free from colonial humanity and have human values. On behalf of the Federation, we strongly demand that the interim government accept the 14-point demands of all teachers.”
