BCB extends Lipu's tenure as chief selector by a month

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended the tenure of the chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu by a month. In view of his intention to step down at the end of his tenure as Chairman of the National Selection Panel, the Board has decided to offer a one-month extension. During this period, the Board will work on finding his successor and reorganisation of the panel, the BCB informed through a press release after a Board of Directors Meeting on Sunday.

The board will also give advertisements in the newspapers for the vacancy of a selector. Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu-led panel included Abdur Razzak and Hannan Sarkar but Hannan stepped down in February last year to focus on coaching career. Former pacer Hasibul Hossain Shanto was appointed as a selector in September to fill the void of Hannan. However, Razzak later resigned after more than four years in the role to contest the BCB elections. He was subsequently elected unopposed as a board director from the Khulna division.
