Import and export activities have resumed at Benapole Port after 10 days of Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

The Benapole Land Port Authority said that the port has resumed its activities as import and export customs and port activities have also resumed since Sunday morning. Passengers with passports of the two countries have been crossing the international check post immigration during the consecutive holidays.

Benapole Port Deputy Director (Traffic) Mamun Kabir Tarafdar said, “Due to the 10-day government holiday from June 5 to June 14 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, all types of port activities, including import and export trade, were closed at Benapole Port. After the holidays, import and export trade between the two countries has resumed from Sunday morning. The activities of loading and unloading goods at the port are in full swing. Activity has returned to the Benapole Port area.”

Benapole International Check Post Immigration Police OC Ilias Hossain Munshi said, “Although import and export through Benapole port was closed for 10 consecutive days during Eid, the passage of passport passengers was normal like other days. There was no pressure from passengers at that time as India-Bangladesh visa activities were limited. Immigration officials and employees were kept on standby to ensure that the passengers did not suffer.”

On the other hand, the revenue employees of Benapole Customs House have joined the workplace after the long holiday. Since the presence of traders at the custom house was low on the first day, the officials spent the morning till noon exchanging Eid greetings with each other.

Benapole Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association General Secretary Emdadul Haque Lata said, “All activities at the Benapole port were closed for 10 consecutive days during the Eid holiday. Many traders have not yet arrived in the area. Although there is less work at the customs house, all customs officials have joined their work.”
