CEC Flags AI as a ‘Major Challenge’ Ahead of Parliamentary Elections

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin highlighted Artificial Intelligence as a significant threat to the integrity of the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections. Speaking at a stakeholder consultation meeting at the Regional Election Officer’s office in Khulna on Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, he described AI as “a modern threat, more dangerous than weapons.” The CEC emphasised that the Election Commission is actively monitoring technology-based interference to safeguard the electoral process. “Our biggest challenge is restoring voter trust and ensuring high turnout, particularly among women,” he said.
He underscored the importance of transparency, saying, “We want to conduct everything in broad daylight, not in the shadows, to ensure a fair election. Failure to do so would jeopardize the country’s future.” Nasir Uddin also announced ongoing anti-terrorism and illegal weapons recovery operations to secure the pre-election environment. “We are committed to delivering a transparent and fair election to the nation,” he added. The discussion was chaired by Khulna Regional Election Officer Faisal Quader.
