Curriculum reforms underway to build world-class leadership: Bobby Hajjaj

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said that major changes are being introduced in the primary curriculum to prepare the next generation with leadership skills, civic responsibility, morality and social awareness, alongside textbook-based learning, with a view to building world-class leadership. He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the national "Halde Pakhi Neel Kamal Award-2026" programme organised by Bangladesh Girl Guides Association here today.

The state minister said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has undertaken extensive reforms in the education sector to develop skilled, confident and responsible citizens. As part of these initiatives, a mid-day meal programme for students is being successfully implemented in more than 65,000 government primary schools across the country. Addressing the students, he said they are the future leaders of Bangladesh who will represent the country both at home and abroad.

He added that the new curriculum will focus not only on academic learning but also on practical life skills, civic sense, cleanliness and social responsibility. He further said the curriculum is being designed to enable children to learn through stories, creativity and joyful methods without excessive academic pressure. A total of 57 selected "Halde Pakhi" members received the "Neel Kamal Award" at the event, which was presided over by National Commissioner of Bangladesh Girl Guides Association Kazi Zebunnesa Begum.
