ECNEC Sanctions 17 Projects Valued at Tk 8,974.28 Cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 17 development projects with a total estimated cost of Tk 8,974.28 crore. The approvals came during an ECNEC meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the NEC Conference Room on the Planning Commission premises in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. Among the 17 approved projects, 11 are new, five are revised, and one project received a time extension without incurring any expenditure. Out of the total project cost, Tk 3,180.34 crore will come from the government, Tk 5,563.43 crore will be financed through project loans, and Tk 230.51 crore will be provided by the implementing organizations from their own funds. The approved projects include: Upazila Complex Expansion Project (2nd phase, 2nd revised) Integrated Services and Livelihood Improvement for Forcibly Displaced Rohingyas and Host Communities Construction of 200-bed Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centers in 7 Divisional Cities Enhancing Capacity of Four Marine Academies with Simulators and Facilities Access to Justice for Women 3rd Submarine Cable Installation (2nd revised)
Construction of 13 Buffer Godowns for Fertilizer Storage (3rd revised) Establishment of Kishore-Kishori Clubs (1st revised) Strengthening Quick Response Services Against Women and Child Repression TVET Teachers for the Future (TTF) Programme Countrywide Mobile Library (3rd revised) Digital Database for Development Budget Management (3rd revised) Improvement of Public Investment Management System (IPIMS) Procurement Modernization for Public Service Delivery (PMIPSD) Statistical Capacity Enhancement and Modernization (SCEMP) Strengthening Public Audit via Digital Transformation (SPADTEC) Strengthening Domestic Revenue Mobilization (SDRMP) Five of these—IPIMS, PMIPSD, SPADTEC, SDRMP, and SCEMP—will be implemented as umbrella projects under the Strengthening Institution For Transparency and Accountability (SITA) initiative, supported by the World Bank. Additionally, the meeting reviewed 15 previously approved projects. Advisers, Planning Commission members, and relevant secretaries were present at the meeting.
