Father and Son Among Three Killed in Cox’s Bazar Road Accident

Three people, including a father and his son, were killed in a road accident in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning. The accident occurred around 8:00am on the Cox’s Bazar–Chattogram highway in the Jetty Road area of Rashidnagar Union, confirmed Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tayabur Rahman. The deceased were identified as Habib Ullah (55) and his young son Riyad from the South Patli area of Peyemkhali in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila, and Rimjhim Barua (23), daughter of Himangshu Barua from East Rajarkul in Ramu.
Quoting locals, the OC said a head-on collision occurred between a Chattogram-bound Purabi Paribahan bus and a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van. The bus overturned beside the road, while the van was thrown to the opposite side. Three passengers of the bus died in the crash. Several others were injured and taken to hospital. Just a month ago, three separate road accidents took place within hours in the same area, injuring around 50 people. Before the impact of those incidents could fade, Monday’s fatal crash occurred.
