Harsha Bhogle Praises Bangladesh Umpire Saikat

Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle showered Bangladesh umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat enormous praise for his admirable performance in a high-pressurized second Test between England and India at Edgbaston. India thrashed England in that game by 336 runs to level the series 1-1. Saikat, the first and only Bangladeshi to be included in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, hogged the headline with his commendable decision-making in the game. In the game where 10 decisions were reviewed by the captains of the two teams, only two were overturned, meaning Saikat's accuracy rate was 80 percent.

"The umpiring in this match has been outstanding. You expect a certain standard from Chris Gaffaney but Sharfuddoula Saikat has been excellent," Bhogle posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. Saikat will also officiate in the third match of the series, beginning on July 10 at Lord's.
