‘Kali O Kalam’ award ceremony tomorrow
The award-giving ceremony of the City Bank–"Kali O Kalam Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar" 2025 will be held tomorrow (September 5) at 6:00pm at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi.
The annual award, presented by the monthly literary, art and cultural magazine "Kali O Kalam" since 2008, aims to encourage young poets and writers in Bangladesh and support their creative pursuits. So far, 71 young poets and writers have received the prestigious recognition.
The award carries a cash prize of Tk 2 lakh.
Prominent novelist Humayun Kabir will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. "Kali O Kalam" editor Subrata Barua will chair the event, while renowned essayist and researcher Professor Abul Ahsan Chowdhury will attend as a discussant.
City Bank Managing Director and CEO Mashrur Arefin and "Kali O Kalam" publisher Abul Khair will also be present at the ceremony.
The programme will also feature a special musical segment marking the centenary of Muslim Sahitya Samaj, the historic organisation associated with the intellectual movement for the liberation of the mind. To mark the occasion, noted artiste Priyanka Gope will perform several historic songs that were sung at various gatherings of Muslim Sahitya Samaj in a solo presentation.
