Young Tigers face India in Youth World Cup opener
The Bangladesh Under-19 team is set to kick-start their ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign by taking on India on Saturday in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Bangladesh, the champions of the 2020 edition led by Akbar Ali, could not get proper match practice as both of their warm-up games against Pakistan and Scotland were abandoned due to rain. However, both the batters and bowlers showed encouraging signs and appeared to be in good form in the limited overs they managed to play amid the rain interruptions in both of the practice matches.
Prior to leaving for Zimbabwe, Bangladesh played several bilateral and preparatory series and also went through intensive training sessions as part of their preparation for the tournament, with the aim of regaining the title. Drawn in Group B, Bangladesh will also face off New Zealand at the same venue on January 20 before meeting the USA in their final group match on January 23 in Harare.
