Amid escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, reports have emerged of forced push-ins from India into Bangladesh. On Wednesday, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly pushed around 110 individuals across the border into Bangladesh through various points in Khagrachhari and Kurigram districts.
Reacting to the incident, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, condemned the forced push-ins and called for national unity in the face of what he termed as “disorder and lawlessness.” In a Facebook post on Thursday, Dr. Rahman said, “We stand united against the chaos and anarchy being created under the guise of forced and unjust ‘push-ins’ into Bangladesh. The people of this country want to live with dignity. We will bow to no one but the Almighty.”
He also urged the government not to show any signs of weakness in responding to the situation.
