‘July Warriors’ Tax-Free Income Limit Raised to Tk 5.25 Lakh from FY27


The government has introduced a new category, gazetted July Warriors (injured in July mass uprising 2024), under personal income tax and offers tax relief on incomes up to Taka 525,000 for two years, beginning from the 2026–27 fiscal year. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed proposed this while presenting the national budget for FY26 through a pre-recorded television speech today.

The tax-free income limit for gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters has been increased to Taka 525,000 from FY27 from Taka 500,000 at present. The tax-free income limit for the physically challenged persons would be Taka 4,75,000 for the assessment year 2025-26 while Taka 5,00,000 for the assessment year 2026-27 and 2027-28. The tax-free income limit for the third gender taxpayers would be Taka 4,75,000 for the assessment year 2025-26 while Taka 5,00,000 for the assessment year 2026-27 and 2027-28.
