Lawmakers representing Mymensingh-11 (Bhaluka) constituency, Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu, has been accused of attempting to grab land through allegedly forged deeds and using the disputed property as collateral to secure a large bank loan.

The allegations were raised by members of the affected family at a press conference held at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday (August 18).

The family members demanded cancellation of the allegedly forged deed, an immediate halt to any attempt to obtain a loan against the disputed property, and a proper investigation into the allegations.

Md Wahab Mia, speaking on behalf of the affected family, presented a written statement at the press conference.

According to the statement, their grandfather, late Madan Sheikh, was the recorded owner of land under SA Khatian No. 20 in Bashil Mouza of Bhaluka upazila. Following his death, the land was recorded in the name of their father, Safir Uddin, under BRS Khatian No. 339.

The family said the khatian includes Dag Nos. 178, 206, 236, 237, 239, 241, 248 and 251, covering a total of 2 acres and 96 decimals of land.

According to the family members, Safir Uddin died leaving behind 12 legal heirs—two wives, six sons and four daughters. They claimed that the family had been peacefully possessing and enjoying the land for generations and that land revenue for 2 acres and 19 decimals under Khatian No. 339 was most recently paid for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The family said they were surprised on August 8 when a group of formally dressed men arrived at the property and began inspecting and auditing the land. Upon inquiry, they allegedly learned that the men were officials of Premier Bank's Banani Branch in Dhaka.

The family alleged that MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu was attempting to mortgage the disputed land with the bank to obtain a loan amounting to hundreds of crores of taka.

According to the family, heirs and local residents protested against the inspection and prevented the bank officials from carrying out the process. The officials subsequently left the site amid the protests, they claimed.

The family members said they later searched records at the local land office, sub-registry office and the office of the Assistant Commissioner (Land), and collected relevant documents.

Based on their examination of the documents, they alleged that a purported legal-heir certificate had been created in connection with the ownership of Safir Uddin under BRS Khatian No. 339.

They further alleged that, using the purported heirship certificate, a deed was prepared citing SA Khatian No. 20 of Bashil Mouza, BRS Khatian No. 339 in the name of Safir Uddin, and several dag numbers associated with the khatian.

The family identified the deed as Deed No. 7355/24, dated December 3, 2024, and alleged that it was forged.

They further claimed that 2 acres and 19 decimals of land mentioned in the deed were subsequently mutated in favour of Bhowal Engineers and Construction Ltd., which they alleged is owned by MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu.

The family also made broader allegations concerning land grabbing and business takeovers in several areas of Bhaluka following 2024. They alleged that land belonging to the Forest Department and local residents in Kathali, Meherabari, Bashil, Jhalpaja and Habirbari had been occupied through relatives and armed associates.

They also alleged that land belonging to international NGO BRAC had been targeted for occupation.

The family claimed that the disputed property was also being targeted through what they described as fabricated heirship documents, an allegedly forged deed and subsequent mutation.

Several individuals allegedly involved in the preparation and identification of the disputed deed were also named at the press conference. The family alleged that local intermediary and deed identifier Ziad Hossain Shakil, vendor Saiful Alam Khan (Certificate No. 5232), and witnesses Kaisar and Helal Uddin were involved in the alleged process.

The family members described the alleged attempt to take possession of their ancestral property through fraudulent documentation, coercion and intimidation as unlawful and demanded immediate intervention from the authorities.

From the press conference, the victims called for an investigation into the allegations against MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu, cancellation of the allegedly forged deed and mutation, and measures to prevent the disputed property from being mortgaged to obtain a bank loan.

They also appealed to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Land Minister and other relevant authorities to investigate the allegations and take appropriate legal action against those responsible.

MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bachchu's response to the allegations was not immediately available. The allegations raised at the press conference could not be independently verified.
