BUP Holds Its 18th Annual Senate Meeting
The 18th Annual Senate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on 30 June 2026 at the BUP Senate Hall. The meeting was presided over by the BUP Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate, Major General Md. Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate expressed his appreciation to the outgoing members for their valuable contributions and welcomed the newly appointed members.In his address, the Senate Chairman stated that although BUP is a relatively young university, its students, faculty members, and researchers have consistently demonstrated excellence. Through active participation in various academic competitions, research activities, seminars, workshops, and innovation programmes at both national and international levels, they have earned continuous recognition, further strengthening the university’s reputation and credibility.
He emphasized that BUP places special importance on discipline and ethics alongside academic education and is committed to developing disciplined, ethical, and responsible citizens. To instill moral values, integrity, character, social responsibility, and patriotism among the younger generation, the university regularly organizes discussion sessions, symposiums, and cultural programmes highlighting the culture, heritage, and significance of Bangladesh’s national days. The Chairman further stated that BUP regularly publishes several internationally recognised research journals to disseminate research findings both nationally and internationally.
He also mentioned that, in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the rapidly changing global environment, BUP is developing an education system that places equal emphasis on academic excellence, leadership, creativity, critical thinking, technological competence, and problem-solving skills. As a result, the university has rapidly emerged as a trusted institution of higher education in the fields of education, research, innovation, and international collaboration.
The house was informed that extensive development work has been completed on BUP’s western campus.Three modern fourteen-storey academic buildings(FASS, FST, and Utility building)have been constructed, along with two separate fourteen-storey residential halls for students and two residential buildings for faculty members, officers, and staff. In the concluding part of his speech, the Chairman stated that BUP is continuously working to strengthen its internationalisation efforts by increasing the participation of foreign students and faculty members, expanding collaboration with international universities, and fostering an inclusive and multicultural educational environment.
Subsequently, the BUP Treasurer, Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan, GUP, BUP, ndc, psc, GD(P), presented the revised budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026 amounting to Tk. 143 crore 99 lakh 43 thousand and the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026–2027 amounting to Tk. 149 crore 33 lakh 62 thousand. Following discussions on the Treasurer’s presentation, the Senate unanimously approved the proposed budget. The Senate also reviewed and unanimously approved the 18th Annual Report. The meeting was conducted by the BUP Registrar, Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan, ndc, psc.
The 18th Annual Senate Meeting was attended by Honourable Members of Parliament, Secretaries from various ministries, senior officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, and senior officials of BUP.
