People suffer for severe load shedding in Raipur

Severe load shedding for the past week has hit Raipur Upazila of the district, mounting people’s suffering. This upazila is a 100% electrified upazila. About five lakh people live here. There are 1.08 lakh electricity customers.
Business and commerce are in trouble due to power outage 10-15 times a day. There has been widespread load shedding in important areas including the municipality from morning to afternoon for the past three days. Many are complaining to the power distribution company. In unions outside the town, 5 lakh people are suffering from load shedding for 1 to 12 hours day and night.
Talking to businessmen in the town, it is known that the Eid market has also been affected by this power outage. Usually, Eid shopping is going on in shopping malls and markets since evening, and power outage is happening. Due to this, the IPS battery is not getting enough time to charge properly. It is taking time to run the generator. People from all walks of life are fuming with anger due to the extremely hot weather. Many are expressing their strong condemnation and anger through social media. A Facebook status has been posted demanding an investigation into whether the DGM is carrying out planned load shedding to defame the government.
The owners of the town’s offset press said that it is extremely difficult to do business due to frequent power outages. With the holy Eid-ul-Azha ahead, they are so disappointed that there are no words to describe it. Yesterday there was no electricity for more than 7-8 hours.
According to the Raipur Municipality Water Supply Branch, due to continuous load shedding, water cannot be pumped into the municipality tank. As a result, water cannot be supplied to the customers uninterruptedly. As a result, 50,000 people of the municipality are suffering from water crisis.
Raipur Palli Bidyut Samity Deputy General Manager Shahadat Hossain said, “There are 1.08 lakh customers in Raipur. The authorities are supplying less than half of the electricity demand. We are trying our best not to cause load shedding.”
