Saplings and fertiliser distributed among farmers in Barguna
Under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Programme, a total of 6,670 fruit, forest and medicinal plant saplings along with 30,000 kilograms of organic and chemical fertiliser have been distributed free of cost among small and marginal farmers in the district.
The distribution programme was formally inaugurated on Wednesday around 11 am at Amtali Upazila Parishad premises. Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Amtali Md. Ashraful officially launched the programme as the chief guest with Amtali Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Russel in the chair.
Former convener of Amtali Upazila BNP Md. Jalal Uddin Fakir, former member secretary of Amtali Upazila BNP Md. Tuhin Mridha, engineer Md. Idris Ali of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Upazila Cooperative Officer Md. Azadur Rahman, President of Amtali Press Club Md. Rezaul Karim and President of Amtali Journalist Coordination Council Md. Zakir Hossain were present, among others.
According to Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Russel, under the 2025–26 fiscal year Agricultural Rehabilitation Programme, 6,670 farmers in Amtali Upazila received various types of saplings including coconut, mango, jam, lemon, custard apple, jackfruit, arjun, mahogany, and rain tree, along with support materials such as planting sticks and 30,000 kg of organic and chemical fertilizer.
