Remittance Inflow Rises 69.2% Through August 9

Bangladesh received US$1.142 billion in workers' remittances during the first nine days of August 2026, marking a robust 69.2 percent year-on-year growth compared with the same period last year.

According to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank, the country received $675 million in workers' remittances during August 1-9, 2025, while the inflow rose to $1.142 billion during the corresponding period this year.

The country received $205 million in remittances on August 9 alone, according to the central bank data.

The sharp increase in remittance inflow comes as expatriate Bangladeshis continue to send more money through formal channels, helping strengthen the country's foreign exchange position.

Meanwhile, total workers' remittance inflow during July 1-August 9 of FY2026-27 stood at $4.001 billion, up 26.9 percent from $3.153 billion received during the corresponding period of FY2025-26.
