Delicious fruits flood Muradnagar markets

Although the markets of Muradnagar Upazila of the district are flooded with numerous delicious fruits, the buyers are blaming higher prices of the products.

On a visit to the markets, it can be seen that various juicy fruits have started appearing in the markets from different regions of the country and nearby areas. Jackfruit is selling at Tk 150 to Tk 400 depending on size. Per kg mango is selling at Tk 50 to Tk 100, blackberry at Tk 160 to Tk 180, pineapple at Tk 140 to Tk 160, and per 100-piece litchis at Tk 450 to Tk 500 per kg.

Sadek, a retail fruit seller at the Upazila Sadar Bazar, said, “At this time, all the fruits come to the market together. However, since it is the beginning of the season, the prices of some fruits are a little higher. Due to this, buyers are bargaining more.”

Buyer Shahana Yasmin said, “I bought litchis and mangoes for my children as the first fruits of the season are coming up in the market. There are a lot of fruits in the market, but the prices are high.”

Rafiqul Islam, who came to buy seasonal fruits, said, “At this time, all kinds of local fruits are available in the markets. So I came to buy these fruits from the market for my family.”

Talking to wholesale traders, it is known that although the prices of the fruits that came to the market early were a little high, the prices have gradually decreased. Meanwhile, small traders are selling these seasonal fruits in vans in almost every neighborhood and footpath, in addition to the market. However, the prices of fruits in these vans are comparatively lower than in the market.
