The interim government’s Council of Advisers issued a stern warning on Saturday, pledging to publicly disclose all reasons if its core responsibilities – elections, reforms, and justice – are obstructed by “defeated forces” and “foreign conspiracies.”

The statement, released after an unscheduled meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Planning Commission in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, signalled that the government will decide its next steps if its work is rendered impossible.

The council’s meeting, held post the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) session, delved into the interim government’s three primary mandates.

It addressed disruptions caused by “unreasonable demands, motivated and beyond-jurisdiction statements, and unauthorised programmes” that sow public doubt and hinder progress.

The advisers expressed concern over efforts to destabilize the normal working environment, attributing them to vested interests.

“The Advisory Council believes greater unity is essential to maintain stability, advance elections, justice, and reforms, and permanently prevent dictatorship,” the statement read.

The government plans to engage with political parties to clarify its stance and foster cooperation. Despite “hundreds of obstacles,” it remains committed to its duties, prioritising public interest over factional agendas.

However, the council warned that if its work is sabotaged by defeated forces or foreign plots, “the government will lay bare all reasons before the public and take the next decision.”

Emphasising its roots in the July uprising’s public aspirations, the interim government vowed to act decisively with the people’s backing if reforms, judicial processes, or fair elections are derailed.
