The government has decided to reshuffle its cabinet, with the addition of four new members of parliament as ministers and state ministers.

Among the new cabinet members, BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan is set to head the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD).

Jatiya Party Chairman and MP Andaleeve Rahman is set to become the information minister, replacing Zahir Uddin Swapon. Sa Ching Prue Jerry is about to head the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, and Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln is to become state minister for religious affairs, several sources from the Cabinet Division confirmed.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat is set to become a full minister, and current Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam will be given the responsibility of either the food ministry or the agriculture ministry.

Also, Prime Minister’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir is being considered for a state minister role for the foreign ministry, a position that he might share with current State Minister Shama Obaed Islam.

Current Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon is being considered as an adviser to the prime minister, sources said.
