Shariful Islam, Alamdanga (Chuadanga)
Abdul Razzak, a victim of July 2024 uprising, is passing his miserable days in Alamdanga Upazila of the district. Injured in police firing during the movement, he is now completely paralyzed.
Abdul Razzak is the son of late Nizam Uddin of Bakshipur Village in the upazila. He was once a worker at a salon in Gazipur Board Bazar.
During the movement, Abdul Razzak joined the victory procession towards Ganabhaban. When the procession reached in front of Uttara Police Station, the police opened fire indiscriminately. Three bullets hit him. He was rescued by the students and the crowd and taken to the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital. Although he was saved, he became disabled.
On June 16, Abdul Razzak came to the door of Alamdanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Mehedi Islam. At that time, Abdul Razzak said, “I was living in a rented house in Dhaka with my wife, two daughters, and a son. I have not been able to do any work for almost nine months. I returned to the village, but there is nothing. My younger sister has registered the land from my mother. Now there is only darkness. The two lakh taka received from the July Foundation and the district administration has already been exhausted.”
Alamdanga UNO Sheikh Mehedi Islam said, “Abdul Razzak is listed among those injured in the July Movement. Since his permanent residence is in Alamdanga, if he wants, we will arrange for his rehabilitation in the village. He will get all kinds of support.”
