Rain Washes Out Bangladesh-South Africa Emerging Final
The tri-series final between Bangladesh Emerging Team and South Africa Emerging Team was washed out without a ball being bowled today due to rain and a wet outfield at Pretoria, South Africa. The match was scheduled to begin at 1.30 PM Bangladesh time, but persistent rain prevented the toss from taking place. After a four-hour wait, the umpires called off the game because the outfield remained unfit for play. Bangladesh Emerging Team had reached the final after winning three of their four matches in the tournament.
They had also defeated South Africa Emerging Team in their previous meeting. Bangladesh captain Zakir Hasan expressed his disappointment at missing the opportunity to play for the title. "We were gradually improving. We were looking forward to playing the final, but unfortunately that was not possible," Zakir said at the awards ceremony. The tri-series also featured the University of Sport of South Africa. Bangladesh's next assignment against South Africa Emerging Team will be a four-day match beginning on August 16, with the second match scheduled to start on August 23.
