ICMAB Inaugurates New ESG Center

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) inaugurated ESG Center as part of its efforts to promote Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, sustainability leadership and responsible business conduct in Bangladesh.

President of ICMAB Md. Kausar Alam FCMA formally inaugurated the Center in the presence of Chairman of SDG and ESG Committee Professor Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCMA, former President of ICMAB Mohammed Salim FCMA, members of the SDG and ESG Committee and officials of the Institute, said a press release here today.

The Center will serve as a platform for professional capacity building, research, technical guidance, knowledge development, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership on ESG and sustainability.

According to ICMAB, the initiative is the first dedicated ESG Center within a professional body in Bangladesh and reflects its vision to position the accounting and finance profession at the forefront of sustainability-related developments.

The Center will focus on connecting Bangladeshi professionals and organisations with evolving international practices in sustainability disclosure, climate-related risk, responsible investment and long-term value creation.

It will also seek to strengthen the capacity of Cost and Management Accountants to respond to the growing expectations of investors, regulators, development partners and global value chains.

At the national level, the Center is expected to promote the integration of ESG principles into corporate and public-sector decision-making. Its activities will include training, research, professional dialogue and collaboration to support organisations in strengthening sustainability governance, improving ESG-related information and incorporating environmental and social considerations into strategy, performance management and resource allocation.

The Center will also provide a platform for engagement among professional accountants, corporate leaders, regulators, policymakers, academia, financial institutions and sustainability practitioners.
