Govt to Procure 110,000 Tonnes of Fertilizer
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved proposals to import a total of 110,000 tonnes of fertilizer from Saudi Arabia and Morocco under the Industries and Agriculture ministries.
The approval came at the 37th meeting of the CCGP for 2026, held at the Cabinet Division in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
Under a proposal of the Industries Ministry, the committee approved the import of 40,000 tonnes of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia’s SABIC Agri-nutrients Company for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The fertilizer will be imported at US$421.67 per tonne, with the total procurement cost standing at Tk 209.06 crore. The quantity has a tolerance of plus or minus 10 percent.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry received approval for two proposals to import a total of 70,000 tonnes of DAP and TSP fertilizer from Morocco’s OCP Nutricrops S.A.
Under the first proposal, 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer will be imported at US$891.67 per tonne, at a total cost of around Tk 441.91 crore.
The committee also approved the import of another 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertilizer from OCP Nutricrops S.A. at US$677.33 per tonnes, costing around Tk 251.76 crore.
