The government has banned online gambling

The Advisory Council has approved the Cyber Security Act, which includes a ban on all forms of online gambling. Legal Affairs Advisor Asif Nazrul stated that the law will be finalized this week after vetting by the Ministry of Law.
Speaking at a briefing following the Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday (May 6) at the Foreign Service Academy, the Legal Advisor shared details of the new legislation. He mentioned that nine sections from the previous Cyber Security Act have been repealed.
As a result, around 90% of politically motivated cases from the previous government—filed under arbitrary provisions—will be automatically dismissed.
The Legal Advisor noted that the new Cyber Security Act introduces several new measures, including the prohibition of online gambling, which were not present in the previous law.
He also stated that the repealed sections include those used for filing cases concerning defamation of the Father of the Nation and the national flag under the past administration.
These repealed sections accounted for 95% of cases filed under the previous law, and those cases will now be automatically nullified.
In addition, three laws were approved at the Advisory Council meeting: the draft of the "Boundary Re-Demarcation" Act, and the Civil Procedure Code (CPC) Act.
According to the Legal Advisor, the new CPC law will help speed up the resolution of civil cases.
