Turkish Airlines Half Marathon scheduled for Sept 18

The second edition of the Turkish Airlines ActivePulse International Half Marathon will be held at Hatirjheel in the capital on September 18 with around 3,500 runners expected to participate.

The international running event was officially launched at a city hotel on Thursday evening under the theme "RUN THE WORLD," said a press release.

Turkish Airlines is patronising the flagship event of ActivePulse Bangladesh for the second consecutive year, aiming to promote active living and strengthen friendship between Bangladesh and Türkiye through sport.

Dr S. M. Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant on Health Affairs to the Prime Minister, attended the launching ceremony as chief guest, while Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), was present as special guest.

Turkish Airlines Country Manager in Bangladesh ?slam Güre and ActivePulse Bangladesh Founder and CEO Md Tanvir Hasan also addressed the event.

Güre said the initiative provides a platform to bring the people and cultures of Bangladesh and Türkiye closer through sport while supporting Bangladesh's growing running community.

The event is an AIMS Member Race, while its 21.095-kilometre Half Marathon course is AIMS Certified and World Athletics Measured.

More than 2,000 runners have already registered. Around 3,500 participants are expected to compete in the 21.095-km Half Marathon, 14.645-km Challenge Run, 7.321-km FNF Run and 1.5-km Fun Run.
