Siam Ahmed unveils first look of Raihan Rafi’s ‘Andhar’

Filmmaker Raihan Rafi has unveiled the first look of Siam Ahmed’s character in his upcoming supernatural thriller “Andhar”.

Siam plays detective Delwar in the film. Rafi has been gradually releasing unofficial first looks of the film’s characters, previously featuring Nazifa Tushi, Afsana Mimi, Farrukh Ahmed Rehan and Chanchal Chowdhury.

Sharing Siam’s first look on social media, Rafi praised the actor’s performance and said he had long wanted to create a classic hero character.

“I always try to establish the heroes of my films as distinct individuals. You will not find any similarities between the heroes of ‘Poramon 2’, ‘Surongo’, ‘Toofan’ and ‘Taandob’,” Rafi wrote. “But I had never had the opportunity to work on a completely classic hero character. ‘Andhar’ gave me that opportunity.”

Rafi described Delwar as a hero who takes on evil forces without seeking personal gain or revenge. Drawing comparisons with characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Batman, he said the character is someone who stands beside people simply because they are in danger.

According to Rafi, Siam has fully immersed himself in the role.

“Siam has brought detective Delwar to life with everything he has,” the filmmaker wrote, adding that although he had considered several actors for the role before filming, he could no longer imagine anyone else playing Delwar after completing the shoot.

Siam also shared the first look on social media, describing Delwar as one of the most demanding yet rewarding characters of his career. He said the character gave him an opportunity to explore different facets of his acting and that he had given his all to the role.

“Although my character is a detective by profession, I too have a world of darkness within this mysterious world,” Siam wrote.

The film has generated considerable interest among audiences, particularly following Rafi’s gradual unveiling of its characters. The makers have not announced an exact theatrical release date, although screenwriter and co-producer Shakib Chowdhury said in June that the film was targeting a year-end release, with promotional activities expected to begin after the FIFA World Cup.

“Andhar” is a supernatural horror film that blends elements of mystery, thriller, murder and drama. Siam’s casting as detective Delwar was officially confirmed when Rafi unveiled the film’s ensemble cast in November 2025.

The film’s story was developed by Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon of Aurthohin, Cryptic Fate’s Shakib Chowdhury and Adnan Adib Khan. Shakib and Adnan also wrote the screenplay and dialogues. 

Sumon and Shakib have long been interested in supernatural stories and previously explored the subject through their radio programme “Bhoutist”. Their experiences and collection of supernatural tales from different parts of Bangladesh contributed to the story of “Andhar”. 

The ensemble cast includes Siam Ahmed, Nazifa Tushi, Chanchal Chowdhury, Mostafa Monwar, Farrukh Ahmed Rehan, Afsana Mimi, Gazi Rakayet, Swarnali Choity and Tanzika Amin.
