Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mahamudul Hasan has visited two educational institutions in Monohardi Upazila with the aim of ensuring regular attendance of students in educational institutions, providing quality teaching and restoring a fair environment for education.

During the inspection, he expressed deep concern about the alarming decrease in student attendance in classrooms after Tiffin.

Recently, he visited 'Monohardi Government Pilot Model High School' and 'Chandanbari SA Pilot High School' on-site. During this time, he observed the attendance rate in classrooms, the teaching methods of teachers and the overall learning environment.

The inspection showed that the number of students in the classrooms decreases comparatively a lot after the Tiffin break. As a result, important teaching at the scheduled time is being disrupted and students are falling behind in the mainstream educational program.

UNO Mahamudul Hasan said, "Every class is equally important for students. Being absent after tiffin disrupts the continuity of education, which has a negative impact on exam results and future educational life. It is important to be present in the classroom and practice directly as instructed by the teacher, especially in practical and practice-based subjects, including science."

The concerned believe that the lack of adequate supervision by parents is also one of the reasons behind dropping out of school after tiffin. Emphasis has been placed on the coordinated efforts of teachers, parents and students to identify the root cause of this, rather than seeing the issue as a crime of the students alone.

Conscious circles believe that in addition to making teaching more interesting and student-centered, attendance in classes after tiffin should be strictly monitored. If necessary, absent students should be supervised by the class teacher and the parents should be informed about the matter. Parents should also keep track of whether their children are in class after tiffin and keep in touch with the school teachers regularly. Awareness should be created among students so that they understand that attendance in the classroom is not a formality; rather, it is the main condition for shaping the future.

A local teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that through this visit by the UNO, it is clear that quality teaching alone is not enough; regular attendance, discipline and awareness of parents are equally important to ensure good education.

UNO Mahamudul Hasan concluded that it is possible to create a disciplined and quality learning environment with the joint efforts of teachers, parents and students. This awareness and responsibility today will serve as the foundation for building an enlightened generation in the future.
