About 3,000 families and the Bangladesh Army’s Military Family Rehabilitation Office (MFRO) are in a face-to-face situation over 1,375 acres of land located in 14 mouzas of 5 colonies in Ghoraghat Upazila of the district.

On Wednesday noon, a delegation from the Rangpur region of the Bangladesh Army and senior officials from the same region and the residents of the 5 colonies sat for a second round of discussions at the Osmanpur Army Camp in Ghoraghat. After the discussion, Barrister Sunny Abdul Haque, as a representative of the residents of the colonies, gave a brief briefing and said that a fruitful discussion had taken place with Colonel Rubaiyat and other officials from the Rangpur region of the Bangladesh Army. At that time, the army assured that they would not carry out any activities that would cause any family to be evicted and the public to be in a state of fear and panic. In addition, they assured that the disputed issues would be resolved through the courts. At that time, Barrister Sunny Abdul Haque called on all the stakeholders, including the residents of the colony, to face the issue with patience.

Colonel Rubaiyat of the Bangladesh Army, Major Nazmul Haque of Osmanpur Army Camp, Barrister Sunny Abdul Haque, Advocate ABM Shafiqur Rahman, Assistant Professor Jalal Uddin, resident of Afsarabad Colony Abdul Aziz, resident of Khodadadpur Colony Rakib Hasan and many others were present at the discussion.
