Seminar on improving marginal professional’s lives held

Organized by the Dumuria Upazila Administration and the Upazila Social Services Office, an awareness seminar on the Project for Improving the Quality of Life of the Marginal Professional Population of Bangladesh (Phase 2) was held at the conference room of the Dumuria Upazila Parishad Extension Building on Monday morning.
Sharsha Upazila Social Service Officer in Jashore Md Touhidur Islam presented the main article, while Dumuria Upazila Social Services Officer Subrata Biswas moderated the programme. The seminar was attended by the Khulna District Department of Social Services Deputy Director Kaniz Mostafa, Dumuria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Al Amin, Khulna District Department of Social Services Assistant Directors Hossainur Rahman and Md Ainal Haque, Dumuria Upazila Resource Center Instructor Md Monir Hossain, Dumuria Upazila Cooperatives Officer Sardar Zahidur Rahman, and Youth Development Officer S M Kamruzzaman.
Among others, senior journalist Kazi Abdullah, Dumuria Press Club President S M Jahangir Alam, General Secretary Sheikh Mahatab Hossin, Chuknagar Press Club President M Ruhul Amin, Khulna District BNP Members Md Sarwar Hossain and Abdul Malek, former upazila vice-chairman Md Sirajul Islam, Chairmen Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Helal and Samaresh Mandal, Acting Chairmen Md Shafiqul Islam and Md Mohiuddin and representatives of marginalized professional communities were also present.
The speakers said, “Out of the 57 lakh people of various marginalized communities in the country, the highest number of extremely poor people are in the bede, tanti, blacksmith, potter and fishermen communities. The Department of Social Services of the Ministry of Social Welfare is working tirelessly to bring this huge population out of poverty. If we cannot bring them into the mainstream of the economy, our economy will not be meaningful and sustainable.”
The speakers also said, “The government has taken various initiatives to improve the living standards of the marginalized professional community. The government will provide all kinds of support to further modernize and simplify the lives of these professionals.”
