Carrying the firm commitment of “For the Truth,” one of the country’s popular online news portals, Shadhin Diganta, celebrated its 6th anniversary in a grand and festive atmosphere. To mark the occasion, a discussion session, cake-cutting ceremony, honouring of distinguished personalities, and a cultural programme were organized at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital.

The event turned into a vibrant gathering with the spontaneous participation of distinguished personalities from various sectors, including journalists, editors, cultural figures, academics, social workers, and notable guests.

The event was attended as the Chief Guest by Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. In his speech, he said:

“Objective, responsible, and public-oriented journalism is one of the key foundations for building a developed, democratic, and humane state. The media does not only deliver news; it also plays an important role in creating social awareness, establishing good governance, and accelerating national development. I hope Shadhin Diganta will continue to work for the welfare of the country and its people by maintaining honesty, dedication, and professionalism while preserving the trust of its readers.”

The programme was presided over by Md. Saiful Islam. In his presidential speech, he said:

“Throughout its six-year journey, Shadhin Diganta has prioritized truth, justice, objectivity, and public interest in its journalism. The love and trust of our readers are our greatest strengths. In the coming days, Shadhin Diganta will continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of the country and its people through modern technology-based, informative, and people-oriented journalism.”

Special guests who addressed the event included Obaidur Rahman Shamim, President of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ); actor Helal Khan, Convener of JASAS and Executive Committee Member of BNP; Didarul Alam, Acting General Secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ); Erfanul Haque Nahid, Organizing Secretary of BFUJ; Dr. Md. They emphasized that the role of responsible media in delivering accurate and truthful information to the public has become more important than ever. They stated that only through objective, investigative, and public-interest journalism can a healthy, aware, and accountable society be established.

Following the discussion session, the anniversary cake was cut to celebrate the successful completion of six years of Shadhin Diganta. Later, honourary crests were presented to individuals who made significant contributions to society, journalism, culture, and public welfare. The cultural segment, featuring music and recitation performances, added further vibrancy to the celebration.

At the concluding session, guests extended their best wishes for the continued success, prosperity, and longevity of Shadhin Diganta. They expressed hope that by maintaining its commitment to truthful, impartial, and courageous journalism, Shadhin Diganta will continue to play a more significant and positive role in the country’s media landscape and further strengthen its position as a symbol of public trust and confidence.
