Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate Md Abdus Salam Pintu has clinched an unofficial victory in the Tangail-2 constituency of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election. He secured 1,98,213 votes while his nearest rival Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Humayun Kabir received 60,871 votes. In the Referendum, 1,62,060 voters cast "Yes" votes while 74,875 voted "No". Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the Election Commission, announced the result today at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon.
