At least 10 people including children have been injured after a passenger bus of New Green Line Express overturned after losing control on the slope of Padma Bridge in Louhajang of Munshiganj.

The accident occurred at the Mawa end of the bridge at noon on Monday (August 31). After getting the news of the accident two rescue teams of Sreenagar Fire Station quickly reached the spot and brought out the passengers trapped inside the bus. Later the injured were sent to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex by the ambulance of Fire Service.

Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Muhammad Sofiqul Islam has confirmed the matter of the accident. He informed that the bus of New Green Line Express going to Dhaka from Magura lost control after climbing the slope of Padma Bridge around 1:37pm.

It has been learnt from Fire Service sources that it is initially assumed that the driver lost control of the bus due to excessive speed. At one stage the bus overturned after hitting the railing beside the road hard. Due to this several passengers inside the bus were injured and several got trapped.

After getting the news the rescue team went to the spot and quickly rescued the injured. Among the injured several have been sent to hospital as their injuries are serious. After the accident the bus was removed from the road and the movement of vehicles on that path became normal.

However detailed information regarding the real reason of the accident and the speed of the bus could not be known immediately. The concerned authorities are examining the matter.
