Not receiving National Award for ‘Ora 11 Jon’ was painful for me: Nuton
Renowned Dhallywood actress Nuton has acted in several landmark films throughout her career. Recently, she attended a film festival in Dhaka to receive an honorary award. Following the ceremony, she spoke about her career and the recognition she has received over the years.
“I have acted in many good films throughout my career, but there has not been much discussion about my work. I have not received much recognition at the National Film Awards either. So far, I have received only one National Film Award, in the Best Supporting Actress category, for my performance in “Strir Paona”. I have not received any other award since then.
“I played the role of a Birangona in “Ora 11 Jon”, the first full-length film based on Bangladesh’s Liberation War. I did not receive a National Film Award for that performance either, although others did. That has been very painful for me. I hope those responsible for these matters will look into it.”
Nuton made her film debut with “Notun Probhat”, which was released in 1970. Over the course of her career, she has appeared in several notable films, including “Ora 11 Jon”, “Dui Poisar Alta”, “Fakir Majnu Shah”, “Rajdulari”, “Rajlakshmi Srikanta”, “Basundhara”, “Alankar”, “Strir Paona”, “Prem Bandhan”, “Byabadhan”, “Pran Sajani”, “Gaddar”, “Nache Nagin”, “Ami Sei Meye”, and “Hero: The Superstar”.
