Fish fry released in 12 water bodies across Gopalganj

A total of 286 kilograms of fish fry have been released in 12 water bodies in Kashiani upazila of the district to conserve indigenous fish species and boost fish production.

The programme was inaugurated this morning at the upazila parishad pond with the release of 40 kilograms of fish fry.

District Fisheries Officer Md Kamrul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shahin Mia, Upazila Fisheries Officer Aslam Hossain Sheikh, Upazila Cooperative Officer Md Morad Ali, Upazila Project Implementation Officer S M Monwar Mahmud and Upazila Agriculture Officer Kazi Ejazul Karim, among others, were present.

Leaders and activists of local BNP and its affiliated organisations, including Upazila Jubo Dal Member Secretary Md Milon Khan and Upazila Chhatra Dal President Md Sohel Hossain, were also present.

Upazila Fisheries Officer Aslam Hossain Sheikh said fingerlings were released in various important water bodies of the upazila in phases, in addition to the upazila parishad pond.

Such initiatives will contribute to the breeding and protection of indigenous fish species, he added.
