Govt to deliver development benefits to every hilly resident: Dipen
Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today said the main goal of the government is to reach the benefits of development to every person in the hilly region. “We will work with everyone to accelerate the balanced development of the Chattogram Hill Tracts. No discrimination will be allowed in development in the hills. Our main goal is the overall development of all sectors, including education, health, agriculture and infrastructure,” he said.
He said these replying to a query of reporters at the Rangamati Circuit House here. It was the first visit of the CHT minister to his constituency Rangamati after assuming office as a minister. The district administration, officials of various government departments, and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, as well as common people from all walks of life, welcomed him with floral greetings.
Regarding the government's action plan, he said, “Our government has taken a special development target of 180 days. We want to show the work first, and then we will present visible results to you. Work will be done on a priority basis in areas where development has not reached for many years.” Addressing BNP leaders and activists, Dipen Dewan said, “Serving the people is our main goal. As per the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we must work with the mindset of serving the people and balanced development.”
Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Major General (Retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Rangamati District Council Chairman Krishibid Kajal Talukder, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Najma Ashrafi and Rangamati Police Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Rakib, among others, were present at the programme.
