Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced plans to establish permanent establishments of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) at all international airports, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Rohingya camps and several other key installations following the devastating fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.  Speaking to journalists after a meeting with FSCD officials at the Bangladesh Secretariat today, the minister said directives have already been issued to take measures for constructing permanent fire service establishments and creating necessary posts to ensure round-the-clock preparedness at critical locations.

"I have already asked to take measures for building establishments and create posts to ensure permanent fire services at international airports, besides the Prime Minister's Office, Rohingya camps and one or two more places," he said. The minister noted that the urgency of setting up permanent fire service establishments at vital installations became evident in the wake of the recent blaze at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He added that special types of fire stations would also be built at Economic Processing Zones (EPZs) and in Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar to strengthen emergency response capacity and prevent future disasters.
