Two businesses fined Tk 50,000 in Rangpur

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in a market surveillance campaign fined two business establishments Tk 50,000 in Rangpur city today.

The DNCRP Divisional and District Offices conducted the campaign in the Chartala Mour and City Market areas under Kotwali Police Station of Rangpur city, said a press release.

During the campaign, M/S Mizan Filling Station at Chartala Mour was fined Tk 40,000 for manipulating measurements.

Besides, 'Mama-Bhagne Arat' (a wholesale shop) at City Market was fined Tk 10,000 for failing to display a price list, not issuing vouchers to customers and other reasons.

The total fine of Tk 50,000 was collected on the spot.

Inspectors from the BSTI Rangpur Divisional Office assisted in the monitoring drive.

DNCRP Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam told local reporters that such market monitoring and enforcement operations would continue in the public interest.
