Two drug dealers held with 427 bottles of Phensedyl in Charghat

Police have recovered a truck with 427 bottles of Phensedyl in Charghat, Rajshahi.

They were arrested during an operation on the Charghat-Baneswar road in Naodara village of Charghat Model Thana at 2:20 am on Monday.

The arrested persons are Suman Ali, 32, son of Abdul Karim of Moktarpur (Pakianpara) village of Charghat Model Thana, and Hatem Ali, 30, son of late Abdul Aziz of Dasirdia village of Araihazar Thana, Narayanganj.

Police said SI Tasem Ali of Charghat Model Thana along with his force was on duty conducting an anti-drug and anti-smuggling operation in Sarda Bazar and surrounding areas at 2:10 am.

Acting on a tip-off, they came to know that two persons were staying on the Charghat-Baneswar road in front of Golap's tea shop in Naodara village for the purpose of selling drugs.

Later, police conducted an operation there under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge of Charghat Model Thana, Sheikh Mahabubur Rahman.

Sensing the presence of police, the accused tried to flee, leaving behind a truck bearing Dhaka Metro-T-12-599 used for transporting drugs.

Later, after searching the truck, 427 bottles of Phensedyl kept in three white plastic sacks hidden among half-loaded stones were recovered.

At that time, police arrested the two persons.

Police further said that there is one drug case against arrested Suman Ali at Boalia Thana of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and one drug case against Hatem Ali at Tongi West Thana of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.

A case has been filed against the arrested persons at Charghat Model Thana under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
