A-L leaders accused of embezzling Chinnamul Banik Samabay Samity’s funds

Chinnamul Banik Samabay Samity Limited of Mirpur-1 in the capital arranged a press conference against lies of some members who embezzled the association's money and assets of the management committee elected in the September 11 election. The press conference was held on Wednesday morning at the Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity where a huge number of the newsmen and victims were present.
Hafizur Rahman read out a written statement at the press conference where he said that Chinnamul Banik Samabay Samity Ltd, a registered and much-discussed non-political cooperative organization of the Local Government, Rural Division of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, was established on 20/08/1984.
He further said that on 28/04/2022, the election of the 6 (six) member Management Committee of the Chinnamoool Banik Samabayo Samity Limited was held and the first meeting of the elected Management Committee was held on 29/04/2022. It was not possible to organize and complete the election before the expiry of the term of the Management Committee on 27/04/2025. As a result, the normal activities of the Association were stopped. We, the members of the Association, in order to address the problems of the Association and continue its normal activities, as well as overcome the overall situation due to the threat of danger until the Management Committee is formed as per the rules, the members of the then Management Committee have applied to the District Cooperative Officer, Dhaka, for the appointment of an interim Management Committee as per Section 18(5) of the Cooperative Societies Act, 2001 (Amended Act 2009, 2013 and 2020).
He accepted the application and appointed Mr Ain Uddin, Deputy Assistant Registrar of the District Cooperative Office, as the President and the Inspector of the said office, as an interim management committee consisting of 6 (six) members, including the chairman, and the member, and instructed to complete the election within 120 days and hand over the responsibility to the newly elected management committee. Which later reached the court and the court continued the instructions to make the election.
In view of this, as usual, in accordance with the Cooperative Societies Act, 2001 (amended Acts 2002, 2013 and 2020) and Rule 13(3) of the Cooperative Societies Rules 2004, we completed the election notification, special general meeting, preparation of draft voters' list, formation of election committee, approval of final voters' list, issuance of election schedule, distribution of nomination papers as per the schedule, submission of nomination papers, selection of nomination papers, etc.
60 days before the election. In all these processes, the accused in the student murder case, Akhtar Hossain Dewan, Moktar Hossain Dewan, Moktar Hossain Dewan, Abdul Latif Dewan, and the canceled member Abdur Rob Dewan, who embezzled the funds of the association and were close associates of the fascist Awami League government and the personal assistant of Bangladesh Jubo League Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, and the money and assets of the Chinnamul Banik Samabay Samity Ltd., remain indifferent by not participating in the elections due to the fear of being disqualified and certain to lose the elections, and are trying to cancel the elected committee by holding a press conference recently. We strongly condemn and protest this.
Present at the time were Abdul Malek Madbar, President of Chinnamul Banik Samabay Samity Ltd, Vice President Md Ishaq Jomaddar, Treasurer Md Delwar Hossain Rony, management committee members Jahangir Hossain Molla and Ayesha Begum, along with general members, businessmen and dignitaries.
