Ansar members foil gold chain theft attempt at Kaliakair hospital

Ansar members deployed at Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex foiled an alleged attempt to steal a gold chain and detained a woman before handing her over to police on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 11:30am in front of the outpatient ticket counter of the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses and hospital sources, several women were allegedly creating a disturbance near the ticket counter at around 11:20am. Ansar members on duty moved to control the situation.

At one point, one of the women allegedly engaged in an argument with a patient, identified as Sharmin Khatun, 30, who was standing in the ticket line. Amid the commotion, the woman allegedly tried to pull a gold chain from Sharmin's neck from behind through the opening under her hijab.

Sharmin noticed the attempt and caught the woman red-handed. Ansar member Md Ershad Ali quickly arrived at the scene and detained the woman, with assistance from Md Sagar Mia and Md Masum Hasan.

The detained woman was identified as Nur Jahan Begum, 27, wife of Chhut Mia, from Dharmagarh village in Brahmanbaria.

The hospital authorities later handed her over to Kaliakair police for further legal action.

The incident highlighted the vigilance and prompt response of the Ansar personnel responsible for maintaining security at the hospital.
