UK High Commission, Democracy International Delegation Meets Home Minister

A joint delegation from the British High Commission in Bangladesh and Democracy International paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.

The four-member delegation was led by Louise Beynon, governance adviser at the British High Commission in Bangladesh.

Other members included Ryan Duncanson, political counsellor at the British High Commission in Dhaka; Aminul Ehsan, chief of party of Democracy International Bangladesh; and Lipika Biswas, senior programme director of the organisation.

During the meeting, participants discussed a range of issues related to strengthening the parliamentary democratic system, improving the formation and effectiveness of parliamentary standing committees and the proposed Cyber Security (Amendment) Act 2026.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on institutional development and measures aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of parliamentary mechanisms.

Dr Ziauddin Ahmed, additional secretary (political and immigration) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, along with other relevant officials, was present at the meeting.
