The Bangladesh women's national futsal team moved up two places in the latest FIFA women's futsal rankings, climbing from 44th to 42nd following their impressive performance in the SAFF Women's Futsal Championship. FIFA published the updated men's and women's futsal rankings on Friday. The top six nations in the women's rankings remained unchanged from the previous edition released in December 2025, with Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Italy and Japan occupying the leading positions.

Brazil continue to hold the top spot in both the men's and women's futsal rankings. A total of 96 countries are included in the women's rankings, while 143 nations feature in the men's category. Bangladesh women's futsal team had earlier participated in the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup in 2017, which helped the side secure an international ranking previously.

Bangladesh recently achieved a historic milestone by becoming inaugural champions of the SAFF Women's Futsal Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand. Led by captain Sabina Khatun, the team remained unbeaten throughout the seven-nation tournament, recording five wins and one draw. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh men's national futsal team, who participated in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers for the first time last year before competing in the SAFF tournament, are currently ranked 139th in the FIFA futsal rankings.
