Babita Honored with ‘Who’s Who’ Recognition
The international organization Who’s Who, which has been publishing biographies and honoring distinguished individuals worldwide since 1849 in the United Kingdom and beyond, continues its tradition of recognizing excellence. In Bangladesh, This Honor has been awarded in Bangladesh every two years since 2016 , aiming to highlight individuals contributing positively to society and inspire others on a global stage.
Renowned Bangladeshi film actress Babita, already celebrated internationally for her achievements, has now been honored by the organization as part of its ongoing recognition efforts. The award was presented to her on the evening of April 18 at a grand program held in the ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.
The chief guest, Yasser Khan Choudhury, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, formally handed over the award. Expressing her gratitude, Babita said the recognition holds deep emotional value for her, as her late father was familiar with the “Who’s Who” institution. She dedicated the honor to the youth of Bangladesh, noting that despite receiving many awards throughout her career, this one felt uniquely special. Speaking at the event, Yaseer Khan Choudhury praised the awardees, stating that such recognitions celebrate true excellence and contribute to national pride while motivating others to build a better society.
In addition to Babita, 11 individuals from fields including agriculture, education, literature, entrepreneurship, journalism, and social service were also honored. Notably, Bobita was recently awarded the prestigious Ekushey Padak. Although she is not currently working on any new films, she remains hopeful about returning to cinema with a strong script.
