Bidhan announces students will receive new textbooks on New Year’s Day
Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today said it will be possible to distribute new textbooks to students across the country on the first day of January next year. He said this while speaking to journalists after the certificate distribution and closing ceremony of the foundation training course for primary education officers, instructors, and assistant specialists of the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) at the NAPE office here. Bidhan said all required textbooks have already reached the ministry.
He said as primary schools are used as polling centers during elections, necessary preparations have been taken to strengthen security in order to ensure smooth storage and distribution of textbooks and to prevent any untoward incidents. The adviser said a relevant training course has been introduced before entering the teaching profession for the first time in the country.
With the aim of producing skilled, responsible, and committed teachers, the government plans to make the Diploma in Primary Education (DPEd) course mandatory for those who wish to choose teaching as a profession and become teachers, he said. Bidhan said this will bring positive changes to the country’s overall education system. Director General of the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Farid Ahmed chaired the event while Divisional Commissioner Farah Shammi was present as the special guest. Later in the afternoon, the adviser attended Mymensingh Divisional Book Fair as the chief guest.
