BNP Leaders, Supporters Pay Homage at Begum Khaleda Zia’s Grave

BNP leaders, activists, and common people visited the grave of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia today to pay homage to her. Since morning, BNP leaders, activists, and people from all walks of life have been coming to the grave of Begum Zia to pay their respects. Rangpur BNP activist Rafiqul Islam and Narayanganj Jubo Dal activist Sohel Ahmed said they came to pay homage to their beloved leader Begum Khaleda Zia and prayed for the forgiveness of her soul.

They recited the Holy Quran and offered prayers. They said they felt peace of mind and a kind of satisfaction after visiting her grave. Many BNP leaders and activists and commoners who came here expressed such feelings. Md Arman of the capital's Rampura Thana Jubo Dal said, “I have come here with my relatives. There are also other leaders and activists.”

“I feel a mental peace when I come here. I swear that we will play a role in building a prosperous Bangladesh by advancing the political struggle of the leader,” he said. Jatiya Ulema Party was reciting the Quran in the mazar area. The security personnel on duty here said the presence of leaders, activists and commoners is more than that of other days because today is a weekly holiday. On December 30 last, Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at the capital's Evercare Hospital while undergoing treatment.

The next day, her namaz-e-janaza was held at south plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and Manik Mia Avenue. Begum Khaleda Zia was laid to eternal rest next to the grave of her husband, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
