Coast Guard seizes 600 sacks of urea fertilizer in Chattogram

Coast Guard has seized 600 sacks of urea fertilizer that were being smuggled into Myanmar from Sitakunda, Chattogram. Two individuals and two trucks involved in the operation were also detained.

Acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard Station Bhatiari conducted a raid around 12:30 AM on Wednesday (September 23) near Banshbaria Ghat. Officers intercepted 30,000 kg of urea fertilizer — worth an estimated Tk 21 lakh — as it was being transferred from trucks onto a cargo boat bound for Myanmar.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed that two individuals and two trucks used in the smuggling attempt were detained, and that legal action regarding the seized fertilizer, vehicles, and suspects is now underway.
