DMP Commissioner urges ensuring election integrity above party interests
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has emphasized that ensuring a flawless and impartial election must take place precedence over all party affiliations in the upcoming 13th general election and referendum slated for February 12 next. He made the remarks while addressing police members at the DMP’s monthly crime review meeting for December 2025 held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh today.
The DMP Commissioner warned that any violation of the electoral code of conduct could jeopardize the security of candidates and disrupt the overall election environment. He urged all concerned to remain vigilant in enforcing the code of conduct strictly and ensuring that no banned organization or vested group is allowed to undermine the electoral process. The DMP chief further stressed that no individual or group should gain political advantage by exploiting any untoward incident.
Terming the upcoming election a significant chapter in the nation’s history, he cautioned police personnel to avoid any actions that could lead to complaints against them during the election period. He issued several directives aimed at maintaining neutrality, professionalism, and public trust throughout the electoral process. t the meeting, Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar underscored the importance of performing duties strictly in accordance with the electoral code of conduct.
Meanwhile, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam stated that strict legal action would be taken against miscreants to ensure law and order during the elections. During the meeting, the DMP Commissioner also awarded officers of various ranks for their outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order, crime control, and public safety in the Dhaka metropolitan area. The meeting was attended by senior DMP officials, including Additional Police Commissioners from various wings, Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy and Additional Deputy Police Commissioners, Assistant Police Commissioners, Officers-in-Charge of all DMP police stations, and other police officers of different ranks.
