Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today said that the government has ensured required security measures over the homecoming of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman tomorrow. "We welcome his return to Bangladesh. We keep communication with his party about the required security measures for him," he told reporters while responding to a question at a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy here this afternoon.

The press secretary also said that the government is looking after the security measures in consultation with BNP keeping the party's requirements in mind. "From our side, we have the highest effort to ensure foolproof security," Shafiqul Alam said.

Regarding Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi's killers, he said the government is working with the highest priority in this regard. "We are getting some vital clues. We have the highest efforts to investigate the matter," he said, adding that some people have already been arrested in connection with the killing.

About the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a factory worker, in Mymensingh, the press secretary said that the government condemned the murder while at least 12 persons have already been arrested over the killing by analyzing videos. "The law adviser today informed the Council of Adviser that the trial of Dipu murder will be held under the Speedy Trial Act," he added.

"We are making the highest effort to ensure protection for the minority communities," Shafiqul Alam said. About arson attacks and vandalism in the Prothom Alo and The Daily Star offices, he said so far 31 people have been arrested after analysing the video footage while several cases have also been filed against them. All perpetrators will be brought under law, the press secretary added. Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmmad was present at the briefing.
